MFA Master of Fine Arts, oh ok gotcha:)

Spring 2007 RTW

I like how cute and childish this one is, so adorable:) like a china doll. I would definitely wear this, from the pattern to the cute top construction to the adorable pouffiness to the length:)

I love the construction of this dress as well, very pretty flowy fabrics, i'm a huge fan of flowy, short dresses.

I love this, it surprised me how much I liked this cause of all the diff patterns. but I love the color combo, and the stripes are to die for. cool shorts.

The yellow shoes make this, and I always enjoy a nice sweater dress:) cute office like shirt underneath. It fun for me too see what fashion students work on:)

Cute, but a little bit too baggy for me... there was some good guy stuff though too, although this is a tad clownish... sorry designer student!!!

LOTS of PATTERNS WOW, kinda like it, the color scheme keeps it connected, but I still think its too much...

This is a MUCH cuter mostly cause I like the patterns better and there are less of them lol, and I may be biased cause its a dress... and i love dresses...

Cool black and flowy dress and sweater:) interesting rope bit as well

I like this guy one much better, the feathers on the sweater are interesting, and the big coat, I like big coats, especially for guys. Tough lol

I like this interesting cut, and the colors I like dark green and pale green and white, so pretty:) There were a lot of cool construction pieces, this one was my fav/the most likely candidate for actually wearing.

Interesting looking at a college:)
Drive safe Chicagoans!!! LOTS of snow!!!

Designer #1 - Abaete

The Label

This label was started by a French Brazilian Designer, Laura Poretzky , in 2004 as a small resort collection. It is mostly dresses that are feminines and understated and according to nymag.com, "never froufrou" lol.

The Designer

Laura Poretzky was born in France and raised in Paris, Rio de Janiero, and New York. She went to the Rhode Island School of Design and worked for Ralph Lauren upon graduation.  She recently joined up with Payless to make and Abaete for Payless shoe line and also joined the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Unknown Terms

resort collection - another name for a cruise collection, and apparently they are summer clothes you can buy in the winter, which would make sense as to why you'd call it a cruise collection:)

froufrou - fussy or showy clothing

Rio de Janiero - second largest city in Brazil, prob should have known that one.... I have heard of it, for the record..

Council or Fashion Designers of America - "is a not-for-profit trade association of over 350 of America’s foremost fashion and accessory designers. As of 2009, Diane von Fürstenberg is the group's President and Steven Kolb is the Executive Director. Founded in 1962, the CFDA continues to advance the status of fashion design as a branch of American art and culture; to raise its artistic and professional standards; to define a code of ethical practices of mutual benefit in public and trade relations; and, to promote appreciation of the fashion arts through leadership in quality and aesthetic discernment." (wikipedia) yeah yeah I copy pasted, huge definition come on

they also host an awards called "the Oscars of fashion", pretty cool, don't know when they are exactly, but I'm really curious...

Fall 2009 RTW

This is the first one that stood out to me. A like its officey feel, very put together, but I totally totally feel the understated and feminine, SO true with this whole line. A like the assymetry in the top of the dress, and I've always loved black tights with cute dresses. very cute shoes too, love the chains.

I love the streamline look here, as well as the ruffled sweater. All of these looks are so down to earth, I can totally see the models just walking right off the runway to a party or work, its refreshing.

Black tights, yes, I love this pasley soothing pattern as a simple dress. Simple yet stunning. All these are.

A love the construction of the top, simple but very unique and interesting. I like the high skirt and the constrast between the skirt pattern and the pure white top. ... black tights...:)

Another very cute dress with intriguing construction and a soothing simple pattern. cool bracelet.

This was the cutest dress in the whole line, just gorgeous. Part of why it was so nice to see was the color against the rest of the grey white and black. Such lovely construction that works beautifully with the rest of the ensemble. So pretty...:)

This was actually the first dress of the line. I like its simplicity, i LOVE the cool side purse/belt. It totally reminds me of the Golden Compass, love it:)

First report, success I'd say:)
Enjoy rest of evening!

Project. The Intro.

Ok.... so I just, literally just, had the greatest idea for a project that I've been meaning to do that this blog would be PERFECT for! SO my fav website is nymag.com, the fashion piece. And on one part of it, they have a huge list of designers, basically every designer people ever hear about. And I've always wanted to read up all of them, extend my knowledge. so imma use this blog to do it. Every day, or at least every other day... haha lets be honest... I'll post really a report on a designer until I'v posted about all of them. YES

So Requirements for each post/ Conditions:

- Alphabetical order is a must
- Cover at least five favs from at least one show
- Name
- Mini bio
- NO COPY PASTE, MUST type it out myself or I'll never learn
- MUST look up any terms or places or people i don't know that the profile mentions AND define them on the post
- I can still post about other things, like what I make, in between, So its not necessarily going to be all project all the time

and that's it!:) Project starts... TODAY
there are approx 582 designers on this.... ok so this might take over two years.... holy cow lol

Well! all the more to blog about:)
First post will be today, here goes

enjoy:)
